Mr. Al Ghurair’s ventures consist of several highly successful industrial units, including Al Khaleej Sugar (www.aksugar.ae) – a world class sugar refinery with a production capacity of 5,000 Tons per day (currently undergoing expansion to 7,000 Tons per day). The sugar refinery now in its 13th year of operation has gone on to become the largest sugar refinery in the world after starting with a capacity of 2,400 Tons per day.
Apart from the Gypsum Plasterboard project, Mr. Al Ghurair is also setting up a green field Porcelain Tiles project, under Porcellan Company (www.porcellan.com) with a capacity of 18 million Sq Meters per year at the same location i.e. ICAD-2, Abu Dhabi. The land area which the two enterprises will occupy is about 1 million Sq Meters.

Thus, Mr. Al Ghurair is on way to become a major player in the building materials and construction industry covering porcelain tiles, gypsum plasterboard and such other products.

Mr. Al Ghurair is also the Vice-Chairman of Emirates Investment & Development PSC, a company co-promoted with few other prominent Dubai businessmen, along with the Government of Dubai, to invest in industrial projects.
Earlier, Mr. Jamal Al Ghurair has been an Executive Member of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, for its 12th Assembly during the years 2000-2002. Mr. Jamal Al-Ghurair also functioned as a Director of Mashreq Bank (formerly Bank of Oman). Mr. Al Ghurair has been a director of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) during its initial years.
